What is Mesquite Flour? Why does it matter?

100% of the grains in our Mesquite Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix are grown, milled, and harvested within 25 miles of production. Our premium baking mixes put together our region's flagship heritage grains--mesquite flour and White Sonora Wheat--into an easy-to-finish baking mix that comes together in minutes. Nowhere else can you find an easier, more convenient way to "cook the desert" and experience the native foods of our Sonoran/Baja Arizona region.

Health Benefits

Mesquite flour is made from the dried and ground pods of the mesquite, a tree native to Mexico and the southwest. Mesquite flour is slightly sweet and nutty and adds a unique flavor to our products.

This flour is power packed with protein, dietary fiber. Because of the low-glycemic content and can serve as a gluten-free replacement for flours that contain gluten.

It also contains significant quantities of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, and the amino acid lysine.

Social Impacts

Because all of our grains are locally sourced, just miles from our production site, we can lower the carbon footprint of our production process.

Our products also support the San Xavier Cooperative Farm. This cooperative sources their mesquite from local tribe member foragers and gleaners who have been harvesting and processing mesquite in the traditional way for over 4,000 years in Tucson.
