My name is Alan Thomas Kohler, and I am the owner and founder of AZ Baking Company. As a local foodie, a former chef, and a heritage foods nerd, I feel so lucky to call Tucson and the Sonoran Desert my home. After years of baking and cooking with the bounty of locally-grown and -harvested ingredients native to the region, it was my dream to launch AZ Baking Company where I can help home chefs experience all that this area and this City of Gastronomy has to offer through our accessible, approachable premium baking mixes.
SUSTAINABLE HERITAGE GRAINS
Tucson, Arizona is the oldest continuously farmed land in the United States, with over 4000 years of agricultural history. It is part of the reason Tucson was the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the United States.
AZ Baking Company is committed to using local heritage grains in our products, including Sonoran White Wheat and Mesquite Flour. We source 100% of our Mesquite flour from San Xavier Cooperative Farm. This cooperative sources their Mesquite from local tribe member foragers and gleaners.
